Fes to Marrakech in 4 Days: Two Camp Nights in Merzouga

Plan a private four-day Fes-to-Marrakech route with two Merzouga camp nights and an Ouarzazate stop. Compare the pace, inclusions and accommodation choices.

Merzouga Desert Package6 min read
At a glanceA four-day Fes-to-Marrakech plan can include two consecutive nights at a Merzouga camp, a full desert discovery day and one hotel night in Ouarzazate. It has three overnight stays in total. The road tour, hotel and listed desert package must be combined in one confirmed quotation.

When you want to travel from Fes to Marrakech and spend real time in Merzouga, the allocation of nights matters as much as the number of days. One camp night creates a brief stop; two consecutive nights give you a full day around the desert. This four-day route keeps those two nights together and places the third in Ouarzazate to divide the onward journey. It is a suggested private program to discuss for your dates, with the road transport and outside-desert accommodation quoted alongside the camp stay.

The route and the three overnight stays

The proposed sequence is Fes to Merzouga on Day 1, a full Merzouga day on Day 2, Merzouga to Ouarzazate on Day 3, then Ouarzazate to Marrakech on Day 4. Nights 1 and 2 are at camp; Night 3 is in an Ouarzazate hotel or riad agreed in the quotation.

1Fes, Middle Atlas and Ziz Valley to MerzougaDesert camp
2Private Merzouga discovery and selected desert activitiesSame camp, subject to confirmation
3Merzouga toward Todra, the valleys and OuarzazateHotel or riad in Ouarzazate
4Aït Ben Haddou and the High Atlas toward MarrakechArrival in Marrakech; accommodation agreed separately

Some four-day tours use one Merzouga hotel night and one camp night instead. Both arrangements can work, but they create different stays. Say explicitly that you want two camp nights when requesting this version, and compare our hotel-and-camp guide if you are still deciding.

Day 1: Fes to the dunes, with a realistic arrival

The usual private departure is around 08:00 from your Fes accommodation, confirmed with your booking. The road crosses the Middle Atlas, with possible stops around Ifrane, the cedar country, Midelt and the Ziz Valley. This is a substantial travel day; stops and traffic affect arrival time.

Protect the late-afternoon arrival arrangements in Merzouga rather than trying to make every stop long. The team will coordinate the agreed camel or camp-transfer experience, sunset and dinner according to the actual schedule. Share the pickup location and any flight connection before confirming the day. An extra night in Fes can make an early departure easier than connecting directly from a late flight.

Day 2: enjoy the full Merzouga discovery day

Staying a second night at camp gives you the whole middle day without packing for a long onward drive. Our two-night Merzouga package includes a private 4x4 discovery with local stops such as a nomad visit, M'fis, Khamlia, an oasis and viewpoints, plus Madfouna lunch and the listed quad and sandboarding experiences.

Dayet Srij depends on conditions, and the 4x4 Museum depends on availability. Discuss the interests of your party and any activity you prefer to skip before booking. Return to camp for the second dinner and night. Confirm the same camp and tent arrangement if keeping your luggage settled is a priority.

Day 3: divide the onward road journey in Ouarzazate

After breakfast and the agreed return from camp, travel west toward Ouarzazate. A route through the Todra area, the valleys and Skoura can provide scenic breaks, with the exact stops fitted around the road time and your interests. Keep the program selective so it still allows a comfortable hotel arrival.

Ouarzazate puts an overnight pause between the desert and the High Atlas crossing. Request the hotel or riad name, room type, bathroom arrangement and meal basis in the quotation. This night is outside the desert package; it needs its own confirmed inclusion in the combined tour.

Day 4: Aït Ben Haddou, the High Atlas and Marrakech

Leave time for a visit to Aït Ben Haddou before continuing toward Marrakech through the High Atlas and the Tizi n'Tichka route. Discuss how much walking you want at the fortified village and which visits need an entrance fee or local guide.

Send your Marrakech accommodation or flight details before the program is agreed. Mountain roads, stops and traffic can affect arrival, so avoid planning a tight same-day flight around an estimated return time. A night in Marrakech after the route gives you a more flexible end to the journey. The city stay and any city guiding should be stated separately in the quotation.

Compare the complete quotation, vehicle and exclusions

Ask for one program that names the road vehicle, driver language, pickup and drop-off, two camp nights, Ouarzazate accommodation, meals and the selected activities. For four travelers, a minivan is normally the comfortable road arrangement; the desert discovery uses a 4x4. Vehicle choice also depends on party size and luggage, so confirm the setup for your group.

The desert-only package does not include the full Fes-to-Marrakech road tour or the Ouarzazate hotel automatically. Flights, drinks, personal expenses, attraction fees and services not listed should be addressed clearly. Apart from the listed Madfouna lunch in the desert program, check the meal basis for every day.

Send dates, traveler count, children's ages, bed preferences and start/end arrangements. We can then check availability and provide the combined price and booking terms. For a return to Marrakech instead, the five-day Marrakech route offers a different starting point.

Frequently asked questions

How many nights are in this four-day tour?

Three nights: two consecutive camp nights in Merzouga and one hotel or riad night in Ouarzazate. A Marrakech stay after arrival is separate unless explicitly included.

Is the Ouarzazate hotel part of the two-night desert package?

No. The desert package covers its listed Merzouga services. The road tour and Ouarzazate accommodation must be included explicitly in the combined quotation.

Can we stay at the same camp for both Merzouga nights?

Request two consecutive nights at the same camp and confirm the tent arrangement for your dates. Availability is checked when the program is prepared.

Can we fly out of Marrakech on Day 4?

Send the exact flight time before booking. Road conditions and stops affect arrival; a tight flight connection should not be based on a general driving estimate.
